Every Student Gives

"For God so loved the world that He gave... His only begotten Son... that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life. (John 3:16)

"For God so loved the world that He GAVE…” The truth is that we cannot out give God. God has lovingly demonstrated what it means to give of ourselves first, for the highest good of others. This has been shown to us by the cross and by Jesus dying a death He did not deserve that we may receive forgiveness and life through his name.

What a privilege we have of bearing the image of God (Gen. 1:26), but also the responsibility to do something with that. The responsibility to live a life worthy of the death that Jesus died for. Not a self-centered life but a God-centered and motivated life. That everything we say and do is all to glorify Jesus.

As my friend Ryota says, “Gratitude must be expressed.” Naturally this comes out in generosity, remember, “"For God so loved the world that He gave…” (John 3:16). He expressed His love toward us by giving… His life. We should also express our love and gratitude for Jesus in giving. If we’re really grateful we will give of ourselves.

What does this look like practically, in Chi Alpha every student Goes, Gives, Prays, and Welcomes. These are practical and scripture inspired ways that we can demonstrate the love of Jesus to the lost world around us.

  • What can we give today?

  • What are small things in our lives that we can not buy or go without for a while so that we are able to give to those in need?

  • Why should our giving be done out of the motive to please Jesus and not others?

Pray that God would show you ways today that you can give… of your money, time, and energy to further establish the kingdom of God and not yourselves.
